What is Endurance Trail?
ENDURANCE TRAIL or TRAIL DE RESISTENCIA races have a more adventurous and mountaineering component than TRAIL RUNNING without losing the competitive part.
If you want to know the main characteristics, don't miss this article.
Main characteristics of the RESISTANCE TRAIL
NAVIGATION
The race is not marked with tape to complete the route. You will have to navigate with a GPS device.
Don't worry, it's not complicated and the race always goes through paths. It's just like when you go out to train!
TIMING
There are no chipped bibs or blankets. The organization will provide you with a GPS to keep you geolocated at all times and verify that you have completed the proposed route and passed through the virtual checkpoints.
ROUTE
The tracks are secret until 15 days before the race so that the navigation component is greater and you cannot have practiced the route before. Remember this is an adventure
DISTANCES
They are longer than usual. Normally between 100 and 200 miles. Although to encourage this modality, many races like ours add shorter distances of 25 and 50 miles so that you can get started.
AID STATIONS
Much more distanced than in TRAIL RUNNING, so we will have to carry more material in our backpack to be self-sufficient for many hours. But you are also allowed to deviate from the route to eat and drink in the shops or fountains of the towns you will pass through.
LIFE BASES
You will always find fully equipped life bases, with hot food, showers and beds and your life bag with your material for the route.
Depending on the distance there are 1, 2 or 3
They are key to managing sleep and recharging your strength.
TRACK AND ELEVATION GAIN
Don't worry if the tracks we provide you with are less distance and uneven than what you will end up doing. It is normal.
Handheld devices have a +-7m margin of error in location, causing each brand and device to take different measurements.
DIFICULTY
Physically it is just as hard as an ultra trail, but we must add more factors that greatly determine being a finisher: Sleep and nutrition management, foot care, the weight of the backpack and adaptation to different climates.
CUTTING TIMES
Much larger than usual so that you can enjoy the surroundings and the route without so much stress and have time to rest and eat at the living bases. Cutting times are usually at an average of 3.5 km/h.
SECURITY
With the GPS beacon provided by the organization, there is a control team that will monitor and follow you throughout the race and that you can call in case of doubt or we can contact you at any time to find out how you are doing.
TEAMS
Although it can be done individually, the reality is that most of you end up doing it in a group, so it is highly recommended to sign up for the team modality. It is much more fun and you will share many battles together worth remembering.
CLIMATOLOGY
As these are races lasting several days and facing several nights and days, it is very normal that we have all types of weather and temperatures from cold to hot, rain and wind.
What are you waiting for?
Stop chasing ribbons and enjoy the mountains again!
